Set in Channapatna during the British rule, ‘The Toys of Channapatna’ is a film about Indian toymaker who must fight off the external evil forces to save his toy shop and livelihood.
This was a group project, done in mixed media, with 2D characters and 3D backgrounds. My main roles were as a storyboard artist, character designer, rough animator, clean-up artist and compositor.

I worked on the first and final part of the animatic along with a group member

CHARACTER DESIGN

I designed the British toy soldiers who were to be modeled in 3D. They have a sharp silhouette and a cool-toned colour scheme to contrast the more friendly and warm appearance of the Indian characters and toys.

COMPOSITING

The compositing was done entirely in Adobe After Effects. For some of the scenes, this meant blending together the 2D and 3D elements in the scene - for example, the smoke animation below had to be added onto 3D backgrounds for the toy transformations.
