This 30 second short film follows a nervous young girl going for an interview who quite literally gets swallowed by her own anxiety. Feeling helpless and trapped in her own mind, she is rescued by her sister, who pulls her back to reality.

The film was inspired by both an old illustration I had made and my own experiences with anxiety. This being has its insides all exposed, leaving them vulnerable, a mouth that can’t speak and a hand desperately reaching out, trapped within itself - this thing that the main character transforms into, is a representation of my social anxiety.

CHARACTER DESIGN
Considering that the film is based off of personal experiences, the main character bears a slight resemblance to me. She’s scrawny and anxious with a face that’s yellow with fear and bright red hair that emphasizes her anxiety. Her colour scheme changed after she calms down.

The supporting character - her sister - has a much more muted, earthy colour scheme - calm and reliable with a broader shoulders and a larger frame that can give a warm hug. Her features are more androgynous to leave her identity open to interpretation by the viewers.
